What is Orienteering?

Orienteering is a sport that involves land navigation over unfamiliar terrain with a map and compass. The object is to run, walk, or even bike to a series shown on the map, called control points, choosing routes that will allow the orienteer to find all the points and get back to the finish in the shortest amount of time.

What do we do?

Orienteering Teams usually competes in 5 to 6 events with the Miami Valley Orienteering Club. Each orienteer are paired in teams of 2 or 3. You will be given a compass and a map and after a timed start you will work your way around the course trying to find all 9 to 20 control points.
